在上帝的祝福下，卫理公会砂华人年议会诗巫万民堂新教育楼于7月31日顺利进行动土礼，预料在18个月后建竣。
砂华人年议会会督刘会明牧师引用了撒母耳记上7章12节，并以“以便以谢”为题，形容万民堂在此时开展兴建新教育楼，不但是彰显了耶和华的大能，更是一种传承，向后人见证上帝的恩典。
据建委会主席胡良舜在受访时透露，这项教育楼兴建与装修计划的预算约为700万令吉，楼高4层，设有9个课室与3间牧师屋单位，底楼为一个拥有25个泊车位的停车场。
