知恩堂座落于民丹莪乡下，居民不多。当年路途遥远，陆路不通时代，通常是与古鲁仆天元堂会友联合聚会。
1946年由王明耀先生任东光学校校长兼领导堂会主日学崇拜。
1948年姚瑞琼女士受委派为知恩堂及古鲁仆两堂会，开始了教会工作。
当地区长谢牧良先生奉献土地一英亩，做为为建造教堂及东光学校用途。
