民丹莪古鲁仆路，是一条重要的对外通道。这里也是卫理教会许多教堂设立的地点。
明光堂就设在古鲁仆路约15公里的地点，是于1932年建立。附属于教会的则是民哲学校。
1960年，学校建设新校舍，因此，教堂和学校便由此时开始，分开使用。
明光堂于1976年建成了一座新教堂。
明光堂教育楼于2017 年7月落成。
